Please extend a warm welcome to my newest client, author Jennifer Luitwieler (@jenluit on Twitter). I will be serving as her publicist, much as I have for Kansas City artist Danny J. Gibson. Her book, Run With Me: An Accidental Runner and the Power of Poo, is a delightful memoir that mines both dog poo and depression alike to yield its humorous ore. It is a book about running, but it’s also about running away and coming face to face with yourself. It’s about dealing with a dog’s loathsome leavings, and leaving behind all of the things that make us loathe ourselves.

When she was faced with a personal disclosure dilemma during the writing process, we talked about different strategies for dealing with the problem. In the end, I wrote something for her, and she ended up using it in her book. For better or worse then, I wrote a whole page of this book myself.  But please do not let that stop you from reading it.

My wife and I had the good fortune of meeting Jennifer in person in October. She and her daughter Bronwyn drove all the way from their home in Tulsa, OK to Lawrence, KS just to meet Baby Evie. (Bronwyn also happened to have a soccer match in Kansas City, but I think she took up the sport so she and her mom could meet us and our little one.)

“Jennifer is funny, humble, and alarmingly real. If you’re itchy to really live life, Run With Me is the book for you. In it, you’ll make a fabulous new friend.” – Margot Starbuck, author of The Girl in the Orange Dress: Searching For a Father Who Does Not Fail

“Perfectly paced, funny, and down to earth, Run with Me takes us to where beleaguered pet owners, runners, and people in need of God’s grace meet. This book has valuable lessons for everyone. It may even help you house train your dog.” - Ed Cyzewski, author of Coffeehouse Theology: Reflecting on God in Everyday Life
