I got in trouble for feeding my sister Alyssa cat food when we were children. I told her it was Count Chocula cereal.
Now that my sister is all grown up and pregnant with her first child (which she and her husband plan to name Count Chadcula), I can see that the cat food actually supplied her with all of the essential vitamins and nutrients she would later need to become the crafty little creature she is now.
She makes things. Earrings. Bracelets. Necklaces. She has an Etsy store and a blog. As a gesture of kindness (probably her way of thanking me for feeding her kitty kibbles), she has offered a store-wide 20% discount to anyone who uses the promotional code below when purchasing her creations.
Promotional Code: CTJCOM20
But that is not all. She and I have also pieced together a giveaway – a contest which you, the reader, can enter.

CONTEST RULES:
To win one pair of earrings of your choice from my sister’s shop, do the following:
1) Leave a comment on this blog post telling me what you would like to see more of here at chadthomasjohnston.com.
2) In the same comment, tell Alyssa and I about the pair of earrings you really want to win at her Etsy store. Which pair of earrings can you not live without?
On March 7th, 2011, Alyssa and I will personally decide who wants the free earrings the most. This means you must be compelling in your comments. You have to sell yourself, but not in an illegal way (i.e. prostitution). Convince us that you want those earrings b-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-d.
HAPPY CONTESTING!!!

1. I think my favorite posts of yours are personal stories with a bit of a theological bent. I always like seeing more of those =0)
2. I adore the Dark Blue Asymmetrical Earrings. I had the green caterpillar ones, and they were my absolute favorite pair to wear — but one broke, so I have been ‘lyssa-deprived. My ears have been saggy and sad for months now. Blue is their heart color. They will cry until they have new earrings — and I am a poor seminary student married to another poor seminary student, so I have no jewelry budget. Plus, I travel a lot and am around lots of different groups of people, so I’d be a great reworked public relations gal =0) You want to pick me — you know you do!

1. Chad, I think my most favorite posts are the personal stories and the ones that make me laugh! You are such a funny guy!! I love you and Becky!
2. I really like the turquoise earrings with the feather. Being part Indian, these are special to me.
) Those earrings belong on this momma’s ears

1). Chadwick, I enjoy your writings…especially ones that highlight any moment of clarity and truth…at the expense of seeming “dumb!” LOL. Seriously, you have a gift for shining a light on the little moments that mean show much. Life isn’t the big moments, it’s a thread between all the little ones
2) I love the black beaded trio earings! Well, I love all of them, but the black ones are my favorite! They’d actually be a gift for someone I know who is obsessed with jewelry in generally, but especially jewelry made from someone’s own hands. Love the name “Reworked”!

1. Why does everything always need to be about *you*?!? *SIGH*
2. DUDE, I totally want those second pair of earrings pictured in this post. I’m a mommy blogger and moms *love* shiny things that don’t have to do with NickJr or toys in plastic bags from fast food restaurants. I will wear them on my mommy blogger TV show. Well, I don’t really have a mommy blogger TV show, but I will totally vlog about my awesome earrings when I win them. And then I will show it to all the other mommy bloggers. In the entire world. Maybe the universe. Yeah. That’s what I will do.

1) I’m married to you, so this is hard to answer. Can’t I just support you by loving you?
2) I think that Jennifer Harris Dault has made a pretty convincing case… so even though I would want lots of pairs of earrings for myself, I cannot fight with a struggling college seminary student.

1. I want more of those stories that make me laugh out loud, but then stick with me and make me think. They often give me a good kick in the attitude-pants and make me look at the world more optimistically, which I need. (Shameless confession: I would also love more church stories. 1) They’re hilarious, 2) I’m not there to enjoy them first hand anymore and 3) I like to try to figure out who you’re talking about
)
2. Ooh, I like the dark blue asymmetrical earrings, and here’s why. For the first time in my life, I have a grown-up job. I have to blow-dry my hair before I go to work, and I have to wear professional looking clothes. And, I don’t feel like myself in grown-up professional clothes. Enter the earrings: fun, funky, and pretty earrings like Alyssa’s make me feel like the fun and light-hearted 26-year-old that I am… like the brightly colored socks I secretly wear inside my dress shoes.

1) I think there is a troubling lack of puns on your blog. Perhaps you should start a new section, titled “The Pun-isher.”
2)Both of these pairs are beautiful, but I favor the funky twisted ones sans beads. I think they’d be extremely versatile as a fashion accessory; you could dress them up or down depending on the outfit. I did not pierce my ears until I was 20, so I have many years of earlobe fashion to catch up on. I have tried to fortify my earring collection, but it can be a costly hobby. Won’t you assist me in my goal to own a pair of earrings to accompany every outfit?

First, NO WAY! I did the same thing to my sister, although I was not quick enough to think to suggest they were chocolaty cereal. Nevertheless, whether she was gullible or I was convincing, she ate it. And I hear still hear about it. The girl is 30 years old & tells EVERYONE every chance she gets.
Now, for the real first:
1. Regaling your readers with the tales of your sibling antics has to be my favorite stuff.
2. I need the gorgeous green earrings to make up for the years of family & social gatherings during which I had to withstand my sister retelling the my-sister-fed-me-cat-food story over and over and over. She doesn’t seem to have been traumatized from my impromptu snack suggestion, but just in case, I would let her borrow these earrings any time she liked. She looks good in green. So please pick me. It’s a matter of sibling peace!

1. I think the stories where truth is hidden in laughter are the best. You laugh, then you think…
2. I love the green beaded caterpillar earrings.

I would personally like to see more snow potties. But instead of Dr. Pepper, I think Mt. Dew would be a nice, and realistic, personal touch.
I cannot live without any of her work. But the wire wrappy ones right up there are completely drool worthy, and would make my life complete. So, send them to me. Thanks.

Is the contest still on? I proclaim that it is since I am just now entering. JenLuit above – pffft. Well, I only know of you because of her tweet, so her entry remains valid. I guess.
1. I am BSing because this is my 1st visit to your blog. Therefore, I would like to see more babyback rib recipes. *Peering over Jenluit’s shoulder* – yes, yes more snow potties. Oh, theology topics. Good good.
2. Cloudy Day, any wrap bracelet, coiled silver wire earrings – my grandmother had these in her kitchen for beating eggs or carpets or something. La la la love all of these.
To impress the judges, I am also *bonus* tweeting about your giveaway. I have, like, 260 followers. Take away spam, UK mattress companies, a group from U.A.E., workin’ girls in hoochie heels, I have about 25 real peeps. I mean, that’s advertising, my friend. *wink, wink*
on twitter: @theartofheart and @castingcrumbs Thanks for the great giveaway!
